"The Absolute Truth is quite remarkable and accomplished, and it surprised the
hell out of me: a complex art film about wrestling. Johnny Valiant is one of the most honest
characters I've met in a film, a warmhearted, reflective man who had a colorful career but is
now living the latter-day Jake Lamotta existence: eaking out bit parts in movies, making
presentations in public schools, living in a SRO in New York, and developing a one-man show
about his glory days. The film is a bit melancholy and quiet, considering its milieu, but this
is much more a sober film about making a meaningful life outside of the spotlight once the
attention has faded. Director Mark Ezovski is a talented editor and filmmaker, and someone to
watch closely...."
